AHA Classes

The AHA Training Center at Wyoming Medical Center offers the following courses:

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
This course covers adult, child and infant one- and two-person cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), pocket mask and bag valve mask utilization, foreign body airway obstruction and automated external defibrillator (AED) utilization.

Audience: Healthcare professionals who must have a card documenting successful completion.

Duration: Approximately 4.5 hours.

Heartsaver Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
This course covers adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), choking relief, barrier device usage and automated external defibrillator (AED) utilization on adults and children.

Audience: Those who have a duty to respond due to regulatory requirements or job responsibilities.

Duration: Approximately 4 hours.

Heartsaver First Aid
This course covers the general principles of injury- and illness-related emergencies and the initial management of illness or injury until the arrival of professional help. Optional topics include environmental emergencies, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) utilization.

Audience: Those who have a duty to respond due to regulatory requirements or job responsibilities.

Duration: Approximately 3.5 hours for first aid only; approximately 7.5 hours for all modules.

Fee: $35

Advanced Cardiac Life Support
This course covers the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult cardiac or respiratory arrest, acute coronary syndrome and stroke.

Audience: Emergency, critical care or intensive care personnel including physicians, nurses, EMS professionals, respiratory therapists and others who may respond to a cardiovascular or respiratory emergency.

Duration: Approximately 13 hours.

Fee: $250

Pediatric Advanced Life Support
This course covers the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of a pediatric cardiac or respiratory arrest.

Audience: Emergency, critical care or intensive care personnel including physicians, nurses, EMS professionals, respiratory therapists and others who may respond to a cardiovascular or respiratory emergency.

Duration: Approximately 13 hours.

Fee: $250

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.  Use of these materials in an education course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association.  Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association.

Prior to taking ACLS or PALS, you must have completed the Pre-ACLS/PALS class or have an understanding/or EKG training.

February is National Heart Month and Wyoming Medical Center along with the Heart Center of Wyoming is promoting your heart's health by holding free blood pressure screenings every Thursday in February from 1-3pm at the Cardiopulmonary Wellness Center, on the lower level of the Casper Surgical Center at 1201 East 3rd Street.
