Health Services

Over the past century, Wyoming Medical Center has blazed a trail for the people of Wyoming, becoming the state’s largest, most comprehensive healthcare facility along the way.

Today, we remain committed to delivering quality general medical and family care in a safe, service-oriented environment. Understanding the value of convenience to patients and their loved ones, we also strive for flawless coordination of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, all through one medical campus.

As a Regional Trauma Center, we operate Wyoming Life Flight, the state’s only air ambulance program; an Emergency Room that treats 36,000 people a year; and a referral center that allows family doctors in small, rural towns to help their patients benefit from our extensive range of medical specialties, including two Centers of Excellence. In addition, we fly physicians to hometown clinics across the state to meet the needs of those who cannot travel to WMC for care.

Medical Staff

WMC supports a growing medical team of about 150 physicians and nearly 1,300 skilled staff. Many of our doctors have relocated from prestigious metropolitan medical centers to improve their personal quality of life and treat patients without the burden of managed care oversight. Despite the shift to a more rural lifestyle, these physicians maintain nationwide connections to other medical experts who often offer valuable guidance when needed.

More than 90 percent of our specialists are board certified, which means they have been tested against the highest standards in their fields. This ratio, well above the national average for medical communities, and the extensive, ongoing accredited training we provide illustrate our dedication to excellence.

Technology

WMC consistently invests in the latest technology and treatments. Our firsts for the state include a 64-slice CT scanner and a Stealth Station System, which greatly expands our capabilities for major head and spine operations. We also offer advanced, less invasive alternatives to surgery such as endovascular bypass for abdominal aortic aneurysm, eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF) for lumbar degenerative disorders and deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease and essential tremors.

Our two Centers of Excellence – the Heart Center of Wyoming and the Wyoming Neuroscience and Spine Institute – are at the forefront of the various state-of-the-art specialty services we offer.
